LOST IN HEAVEN

Release: November 1, 2024

Chase Atlantic makes a powerful return to the music scene with their highly anticipated fourth studio album LOST IN HEAVEN. The band started the new era last year with their single MAMACITA which grew excitement for the upcoming era and what they had in store for 2024 – and boy, was it a big one.

Chase Atlantic doesn't shy away from genre bending and being as diverse as possible. They have repeatedly shown us time after time what they're capable of and the impact they've had on the alternative music scene. Band members Mitchel Cave, Clinton Cave and Christian Anthony have already had some of their strongest singles to date with this new era – that doesn't just include MAMACITA but their very well received single DIE FOR ME which has been a fan favorite so far, gaining traction on TikTok as it currently has more than 56 000 videos with the official sound. This was only the beginning for the band as they released DOUBT IT, and most recently RICOCHET shortly after, which kept fans eager and excited. Just the four singles alone currently have over 60 million streams on Spotify.

This album is no exception from the amount of diversity and replayability it brings to the band's discography. The album starts with a very strong, fun and upbeat song titled FAVELA, which was teased earlier in the year on X, and is already one of the most anticipated tracks by fans. This track lets fans get a warm up and dance session and would make a great car song to blast with your friends or even by yourself as a quick mood booster. It quickly sets one of the many tones of this album but just a small glimpse to what experience Chase Atlantic is going to take their fans on. The next non-single on the tracklist, YOU, is easily one of the most beautiful tracks that this band has ever released, both sonically and lyrically. The moment I heard this track, it felt like a more mature version of LUST, which is a song on their DON'T TRY THIS EP (2019). This brings back a wave of nostalgia and comfort and showcases the band's growth.

As someone who has watched this band find their sound and grow both as individuals and as one, this is arguably one of their most vulnerable, personal and impressive bodies of work that they have ever released. There's also a ton of small details that makes this album what it is and the concept is so fascinating. For starters, this album is being released on All Saint's Day and on an angel number (11/1 = 111) and coincides with the album title LOST IN HEAVEN, which to me is a very interesting and thoughtful rollout for an album, especially when it goes in hand with the title. Secondly, the songs lyrically seem far more personal and vulnerable than what they have released in the past. While they haven't shied away from speaking on topics such as mental health, the feel of this album just feels different and I think will really speak to the listeners. An example of this would be the track DISCONNECTED which was personally a track I was looking forward to, as many others, as the band used it in a tour promo a few years back. The feel of this song can only be described as a one-on-one connection with Chase Atlantic and you. It literally feels like both Mitchel and Christian are both speaking directly to you out of their personal diary rather than making a song. There's a part of this song where you really only hear Mitchel talk and a very faint instrumental. This is a really beautiful touch and I think it will hit deep. I strongly urge you to listen closely to the lyrics on this one.

Another track that had a similar feel was AMY. This track is one of the slower tracks on the album, and when I tell you this song had my jaw on the floor with a tissue in hand by the end, I mean it. From start to finish, AMY brings you on a psychedelic, storytelling trip through a universe of its own. If you're a fan of storytelling songs, this song is absolutely for you and offers an experience that is truly one of a kind. From the gentle build-up to the chorus, to them creating a character with a full-blown back story, I believe this song will be a fan favorite.

What I was also very excited to see in this album is the fact that an interlude was included. NIGHT CALLS is a direct follow-up or "second half" transition song from DEMON TIME. It gives listeners time to process what they just heard while making that shift into the second half of the album, and I think DEMON TIME is the best choice to make a "part two" of as it introduces yet another beautiful build-up, entrancing instrumentals, a well delivered vocal performance and easily flows in the album – especially because the last lyrics are "to be continued, just leave a blank page for me" with the sound of a phone locking before seamlessly transitioning into the interlude. It's a very fun and detailed experience. You can just tell this album was very thought out and created with much care and attention.

The band also has one feature on this album, bringing back longtime friend Xavier Mayne on the track MESS ME UP. Xavier is no stranger to the fans as he has supported the band on their tours and has been featured on tracks before, including a song on their last album titled PLEASE STAND BY.

The future for Chase Atlantic remains very promising and bright as they continue to stay a prominent component in the alternative music scene. This album is easily one of their most cohesive, detailed, and carefully crafted pieces that they have ever put out. Listening to this album is like experiencing heaven on earth; from the vocal performances, Clinton's many beautifully done saxophone solos, to the attention to details in build-ups, bridges and recurring voices that appear throughout the album, and finishing with an end track that gave me chills, making the name extremely fitting. The end track is a gorgeous wrap up on the album, finishing out with an echoing voice that leads the listeners out by the hand which is something I wasn't expecting to hear, but am very glad they did as it fits the album perfectly. Not to mention how well done the cover art and visuals have been for this album. What is most notable is that after each listen there's something new to enjoy or pick up on that you didn't before, which makes the replayability factor extremely high. One track for me that I kept going back to is HOURS LOST, which is my personal favorite on the album as of now, and I will let that song speak for itself. Whether you are a longtime Chase Atlantic fan or someone who has never heard of them, there is a song for everyone to enjoy. Chase Atlantic is here to stay and they're back and better than ever.
