Everything is Fine (I'm Only on Fire) takes us on an emotional journey through life's ups and downs. Anna brings us along, and through 11 tracks lets the listener experience the feelings of love, heartbreak, toxicity, and loss, and she dives into topics related to mental health.
One thing about Anna's music is that it is incredibly catchy and you can't help but find yourself nodding your head to every single song. The steady drums and rhythm of the album's opening track, Until I Die, caught my attention at once. Maybe because the first beat instantly reminded me of The Neighbourhood's Sweater Weather. The infectious melodies, upbeat tempo, and drums are present in a lot of songs on the album, like Scared of Your Ex, Sick!, It's Depression (ft. Middle Part) and the album's title track Everything is Fine (I'm Only on Fire). The latter starts slow and steadily builds up before breaking into an electrifying chorus. The tempo slows down on songs like On Me and Long Drive Home – both songs with honest lyrics which make you really feel the emotions.
About the album process, Anna says: "'Everything is Fine (I’m Only on Fire)' is made up of bits and pieces of my diary over the past two weird years. It’s about a fascination with self destruction but also redemption. It’s about forgiving yourself when you have every reason to hate yourself. It’s about falling in love when you have every reason not to trust. This album is a destruction fantasy. It’s about burning down expectations until the only thing left is you."
Everything is Fine (I'm Only on Fire) combines alt-leaning production, intoxicating pop melodies and notably honest lyricism. It is clear that Anna is on the path to discovering and creating her own sound, and I'm excited to follow her on her musical journey!
